Five communities in focus
All week, GHRI is spotlighting communities where healthcare is hardest to reach — and the people working to change that:
- Adamawa, Nigeria — where mobile clinics are defeating distance
- Darfur, Sudan — where care continues under fire
- Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh — a million refugees, and care under pressure
- Ucayali, Peru — where two medicines are learning to work together
- Northern Canada — where Inuit communities face the tyranny of distance
Why these five
Each community faces a different barrier — geography, war, displacement, culture, cold — which is exactly the point. There is no single face of the healthcare access crisis, and no single solution that fits everywhere.
GHRI highlights these communities to raise awareness; we do not claim to serve them. Awareness is the first step: a community the world can see is a community the world can stand with.
Follow their stories
Each afternoon during Global Health Action Week, we share one community's story in depth — the barrier, the people responding, and the progress worth amplifying.
Five places. Five different barriers. One message: no community should be left behind.
